Congratulations on taking the first step to entering therapy! I work with diverse groups, populations, and diagnoses. My niche is Trauma, Men's Issues, and the LGBTQIA+ Community. My ultimate goal is to meet you where you are at and help you achieve your goals. My approach I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reshape unhelpful thought patterns. This allows you to draw connections between your thoughts, behaviors, and actions to retrain your brain. I also use EMDR for Trauma which helps to remove the negative information and thoughts of trauma from your brain to allow you to think more adaptively. My focus Have you been struggling with handling your mental health? I work with adults and individuals from diverse backgrounds to work through your struggles and trauma. We will work together to create goals that will help you succeed. My communication style I provide communication that is open in nature and comes from a non-judgmental stance. I welcome any feedback to provide clarification or clear up any misunderstandings. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to therapy came from being in a time where you didn't talk about mental health; you just "got over it." This was detrimental to me in my teenage years. I want to provide that space for others to work through their concerns and want my clients to know that someone is on their side. My goals for you I believe for therapy to work, there needs to be a mutual understanding between therapist and client on what is being achieved. I would like to know what your long-term goal is; imagine knowing that therapy is no longer needed. What does that look like? We will then break this long-term goal into short-term goals and build from there. My first session with you Our first session will be an opportunity for us to learn a little about each other. I gain a broad overview of what is bringing you to therapy and what your goal are. This is mainly completed through obtaining an history.
