Getting to know Angel Ramos

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Long Beach, California, and I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with Adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, LGBTQIA+ issues, and substance use disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy to help my clients reduce their suffering and start feeling better. My approach My approach to therapy is eclectic and affirming, tailored to the needs of the clients with whom I work. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality, collaborate to build skills that help them to be more effective, and allow us to work together to chart a path forward. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for LGBTQIA+ adults who may be dealing with emotional/behavioral dysregulation, interpersonal conflict, and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and alcohol/substance use disorders. I work to help my clients navigate these challenges and build skills that allow them to feel better and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is warm, empathic, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist because I am naturally curious and have always wanted to help people. I like understanding the strengths that people have and how these strengths help to build resilience. Whether it was at work, volunteering in my community, or at home, I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves by tapping into the strengths that, at times, may be overlooked.

Angel is kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. Every session he brings more to the table, but never in a way that overwhelms me, and whenever I falter and begin to talk about my 'failings' he's quick to remind me that my mistakes are not personal failures, but symptoms of what we are trying to resolve.
I have been thru three other therapist. I never really bonded with one until Angel. The others were kind of preachy, but Angel listens, ask questions and helps me come to my own realizations about my issues. A super sweet human. I appreciate him.
