Getting to know Ann Bendgen
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida specializing in trauma, addiction, perinatal issues, and codependency. I hold a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Over the years, I have worked with teens and adults across all levels of care, including residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings. I am passionate about the work I do and love coming alongside my clients to help them break free from obstacles that prevent them from moving forward.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and evidence-based practices. Together, we will explore your unique journey and work toward sustainable solutions, building a foundation for positive mental health. I use CBT, EMDR, Inner Child Work, and other modalities as needed to best support you.
I enjoy working with clients who need a nonbiased, safe, and nonjudgmental person to talk to, primarily those aged 13 to 45. With my experience, I have supported individuals facing addictions, trauma, eating disorders, and perinatal challenges.
Having experienced many highs and lows in life, I developed deep empathy and compassion for others. I love learning about people's unique experiences and how these have shaped who they are today. I understand that not everyone shares the same upbringing, so I prioritize asking questions that honor what makes each person special.
In my late teens, I struggled with feelings of not being "good enough" and perfectionism. This led me to make some poor choices and rely heavily on drinking to cope. Through therapy and support, I replaced negative thoughts with more realistic ones and developed coping skills that worked for me. Later, while completing my bachelor's degree, I worked at a substance abuse treatment center, where I discovered a natural gift for helping others by truly empathizing and walking alongside clients on their healing journeys.
