Getting to know Ann Genetti Harris

Annie Genetti (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois and holds a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. She also earned a BA in Religious Studies from Stetson University and an MTS in Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University. These academic experiences have shaped her understanding of how our answers to life’s biggest questions influence our daily experiences and coping strategies. In therapy, Annie is warm, engaging, and accepting, believing that the best healing happens when clients feel safe enough to bring all parts of themselves to the metaphorical table. She has worked with children, teens, and adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, trauma, PTSD, relational challenges, and low self-esteem. Annie is especially passionate about helping clients achieve wholeness and self-trust. Her approach is tailored to each client’s unique needs and combines skill-building through mindfulness practices with deeper psychodynamic and existential exploration.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The process for new clients is to schedule an intake session through ZocDoc. Clients will then receive a confirmation email and instructions from our Client Care Coordinator . All further scheduling will be done directly through your therapist. Please note there is paperwork to be completed before your intake session (more information will be included on your confirmation email). Please note that were are NOT able to serve clients that are in the following situations: - If you are or have been accused of being a perpetrator of abuse and/or violence of any kind and are actively involved in the criminal system due to these charges - If this applies to you, please cancel your appointment immediately and contact us if you need referral information. If you are coming in for the following reasons, please contact us to get more information from you: - Substance abuse or dependence as your main reason for seeking treatment. - A recent suicide attempt. - If the client is under 18 and the parents are separated/divorced.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERAPY SESSIONS ARE CONDUCTED WEEKLY ON THE SAME DAY AND TIME. Clients will typically have 2 intake sessions in which the therapist will ask some questions about their presenting issue, upbringing, current living situation, support system, symptoms, and experiences across the lifespan. The therapist will then issue a diagnosis and set up a treatment plan for the client, which may involve weekly therapy sessions for a certain period of time.
