Hi there, I'm Ann! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University. I have over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and truly enjoy supporting this age group. I see clients ages 14 years through the lifespan, both in-person and virtually. I also work with women on a breast cancer journey. As a survivor, I understand the emotional and physical toll chronic illness and treatment can take. I recognize that life post-treatment is a challenge, and reaching out for help is courageous. I am trained in EMDR and ASSYST, therapeutic treatments for past and current/ongoing trauma. My approach Reaching out can be intimidating. I offer a warm and safe space where we can explore your unique needs and goals. I believe life experiences can be building blocks for change. Therapeutic modalities I use include CBT, EMDR, person-centered supportive, solution-focused, and others. My focus I work with ages 14 through the lifespan and have over two decades of experience counseling teens. Adolescence is a challenging and confusing time. I also serve women affected by breast cancer. As a survivor, I want to support those fighting and surviving. My communication style I offer a comforting and warm environment. I am encouraging, calm, and affirming, and will walk beside you in your healing. My journey to mental healthcare I have always had a compassionate view of life and a desire to help others. My background includes working as a school campus counselor and district-level crisis counselor. After 28 years in these roles, I chose to grow and serve my community as a counselor. Being a cancer survivor has drawn me to support other women in this space. My goals for you I believe everyone has unique strengths, values, and life experiences they bring into therapy.
