Getting to know Anna Appenzell-McDonald

My name is Tina McDonald, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been licensed since 1994 and have had the opportunity to work with clients facing a variety of issues. I am a passionate advocate for assisting clients in meeting their goals. My approach I meet each client with compassion and empathy. I am experienced in various therapeutic techniques that focus on collaboration and growth. My focus Throughout my career, I have worked with clients recovering from child abuse, domestic violence, drug abuse, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I am comfortable working with clients struggling with these challenges as well as those looking to make changes in their life and careers. My communication style I believe a good therapist is a good listener. Giving clients the space to talk about what is happening in their lives and the frustration, anxiety, or habits they find concerning is the first step. I also work side by side with clients to design new skills that decrease problems and improve their quality of life. My journey to therapy My father was a high school counselor who often shared with my mother the problems his students faced. Early in life, I explored various careers-such as aerobics instructor and substitute teacher-but it was my dad's compassion for his students that ultimately led me to this career. Since becoming a therapist, I have never questioned my choice and find joy and purpose in this work. My goals for you I like to establish the goals clients hope to achieve and examine the steps they have attempted in the past, including what they feel has been helpful or not. My first session with you Clients will find me focused, empathic, and open to their needs and expectations. In the first session, we will begin to develop the therapeutic relationship essential to meeting their goals.
