Anna Barton, LPCC

Anna Barton, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CO
I specialize in trauma-informed, body-based therapy integrating EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and mindfulness with more traditional approaches like CBT and ACT. I work with trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, dissociation, grief, and spiritual emergence, helping the nervous system, mind, and spirit. If you're reading this, some part of you is looking for a way back to yourself. That takes courage, especially if you've felt like your pain is too big, too strange, or too spiritual for a typical therapy office to hold. Finding the right therapist is important, and I'm always glad to answer any questions before getting started.

Getting to know Anna Barton

What should a new client know about working with you?

I've always been fascinated by the relationship between the mind, body, and spirit, and by what allows people to heal after difficult experiences. My own background in mindfulness and contemplative practices, combined with clinical training in evidence-based trauma therapies, inspired me to become a therapist. I enjoy helping people move beyond simply understanding their struggles intellectually and toward lasting healing that feels integrated throughout their whole lives. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's been going on in your life, what you're hoping to find in therapy, and any questions you have about the process. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how we might work together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My clients are often deeply self-aware, spiritually curious adults who feel stuck between what they know intellectually and what their body and nervous system are still holding onto. They come to me carrying trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, or big life transitions that have knocked them off balance, including experiences of spiritual emergence that don't fit neatly into a diagnosis. Together, we work at the pace your nervous system can integrate, using EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and somatic approaches to help you move from understanding your pain to releasing it.
