Anna McMahon, LPC

Psychotherapist
1398 W Mayfield Rd, Ste 220, Arlington, TX
The canvas of my education is DFW, where I earned both my undergraduate degree and my Master's in Counseling from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. I have been a fully licensed LPC since 2013 and have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. My experience is diverse, spanning private practice, hospitals, group homes, rehab centers, and community mental health settings. Therapy begins the very moment you make the brave decision to step into the unknown to know yourself better and seek wholeness. Even before you contact the office, you become a catalyst in an amazing journey by choosing to trust someone with your story. It is sacred to share your story, let yourself be known, and make your voice heard-I honor that. You are not broken; you are simply open to the possibility of something more. In case no one has told you, I am proud of your brave. As far as therapeutic approaches go, I describe myself as eclectic, drawing from many methods to meet clients where they are. With my child clients, I follow a child-centered play therapy approach because often behavior speaks for them. Depending on their maturity, I also incorporate TBRI, CBT, EMDR, and a trauma-informed lens if needed. For teens, I want them to know their voice matters, so I use a similar approach to adults: trauma-informed when appropriate, blending EMDR, CBT, Gestalt, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused techniques. Wherever you are, I will meet you there, let you set the pace, and with your permission, challenge you each session to expand how you see yourself.
