Getting to know Anna Steidl

You may feel like your mind never fully slows down. Perhaps you replay conversations, worry about how others see you, or carry tension in your body that never quite settles. Some days anxiety leaves you on edge or close to panic. Other days you may feel overwhelmed, emotionally shut down, or unsure why the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships. Even when you understand things logically, your body may still react as if it needs to stay guarded. These experiences are often connected to how the nervous system adapts to stress, trauma, and early relational experiences. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and begin feeling calmer, more grounded, and more secure in yourself and your relationships. I take a trauma-informed and relational approach to therapy that recognizes the connection between the mind, body, and early attachment experiences. My work focuses on helping clients understand the patterns underlying anxiety, stress, trauma, and relationship challenges while supporting greater nervous system regulation and emotional balance. I integrate attachment-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and somatic therapy in my work. I am also a Certified Transforming Touch Practitioner (CTTP), a gentle body-based therapy that supports nervous system regulation and healing from developmental and relational trauma. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with a master’s degree in counseling and training in Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy (DART). I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship issues, and emotional overwhelm.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you're not sure where to begin or how to explain what you're going through. My goal is to create a collaborative and supportive space where you can feel comfortable, understood, and not pressured to have everything figured out. Many people come to therapy worried about saying the “right” thing or unsure how to put their experiences into words. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting. My role is to help guide the conversation so we can begin making sense of what you are experiencing together. I take a trauma-informed and relational approach to therapy with a strong awareness of how the nervous system responds to stress, anxiety, and relationship experiences. This means we often pay attention not only to thoughts and emotions, but also to how experiences show up in the body. Clients often share that they appreciate having a space where they can slow down, reflect, and feel supported without judgment as they begin to understand themselves and their patterns more clearly.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work usually begins by exploring what is bringing you to therapy and what you hope will feel different in your life. Together we start identifying patterns connected to anxiety, stress, or relationship challenges so we can better understand what tends to trigger these experiences. As therapy progresses, we focus on building awareness of how these patterns show up in real time. I help clients develop practical tools for regulating anxiety, managing stress, and responding to difficult situations with greater clarity and steadiness. Depending on your needs, this may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy strategies for working with anxious thoughts, mindfulness practices that increase awareness, and somatic approaches that support nervous system regulation. I am also a Certified Transforming Touch Practitioner (CTTP). Transforming Touch is a gentle body-based therapy that can be incorporated into sessions to support nervous system regulation and healing from developmental and relational trauma. Over time, many clients begin to feel more grounded in themselves, more secure in their relationships, and more confident navigating life’s challenges.
