How does your past impact you? Do you feel like you are able to move forward easily and with a positive outlook, or feel more like things from the past are keeping you stuck? Would you like to be able to feel more neutral, or possibly even positive, about negative things that have occurred to you in your lifetime? My approach EMDR is an evidence-based practice that helps people to move past their past. Working with people to change the way they feel and think about Traumas, or traumas, in their lives can be freeing for the individual dealing with emotional distress. Let me help you gain some freedom and peace from the negative emotions you are experiencing. My focus I enjoy working with adults who want to work to find a new and brighter way to face life by dealing with past hurt and negative experiences, as well as any adults who feel they want guidance with typical life stressors and finding better ways to progress in life. My communication style I practice active listening and work to rephrase and reshape things, when possible, to give new ideas or a better understanding of one's self. I am caring and compassionate, but can also challenge people to view life from a different lens. My journey to mental healthcare My journey into becoming a therapist began with me attending therapy of my own as a teen. I have always enjoyed working with others and trying to find ways to help those around me, and therapy was a way I could do that as a career. I became attracted to EMDR after working in substance abuse treatment as an associate therapist. My goals for you I enjoy creating a goal that is collaborative and is going to accomplish what each individual wants from their therapy sessions. This could be as simple as developing new coping skills, new communication skills, better self-care habits, or something more personal based on each individual and their intention for therapy.
