Hi there, I'm Anne Marie! Hello! I am Anne Marie Prewitt, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with a Master’s in Counseling from Amberton University. My philosophy of counseling is one of collaboration. You are the expert in your life. My goal is to work to understand your lifestyle and set therapeutic goals accordingly. My approach My desire is for you to understand and embrace the beauty of your existence. You are enough just as you are! Your circumstances, struggles, or past issues do not define you. They are simply a reference to be used in your journey toward healing. I am an Adlerian therapist at heart, which may not mean much to the average person. In a nutshell, I work from the idea that your experiences have shaped you, but they do not define you. I utilize several modalities including PIT and EMDR for trauma work, CBT, and DBT for managing symptoms and helping you understand the automatic thoughts that may drive your emotional well-being. My focus I work with a wide array of ages—adults ages 18 to 99+. I love working with individuals throughout their lifespan. Much of my work is with those who want to heal from past traumas. I see people with diagnoses such as bipolar disorder, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, and more. My belief is that a diagnosis is not pathological but rather a set of symptoms that accompany the condition of being human. My communication style As stated previously, I am a collaborative therapist. I am trained in many counseling modalities, but I am not inside of you. You are the expert on your life. As a result, my work consists of asking a lot of questions. My goal is to understand your internal and external experiences and sojourn with you in this thing called life.
