Annie Sim, LMFT

Annie Sim, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Annie! Healing from trauma does not mean forgetting your past or feeling happy all the time. Healing means finding a way to carry it so that it no longer directs your life. My focus I work with children, teens, young adults, and parents to address their past trauma and how it affects their daily functioning. Collaboratively, we can build an individualized plan using strategies to minimize the impact of the feelings related to the trauma. My approach If trauma feels stuck, talking isn't always enough. I blend three powerful methods to help you move forward using EMDR and TF-CBT. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to clear body-based panic responses. TF-CBT reshapes distressing, negative core beliefs. My communication style I like to practice active listening and reflect on your emotions and experiences. When discussing challenges or difficulties, I can be patient and provide a safe space. My journey to mental healthcare My journey as a therapist started when I noticed how traumatic events affected the lives of people close to me. In a desire to help, I began to study psychology and the effects of trauma. My goals for you From the beginning of therapy, we will build goals to address the symptoms and behaviors of depression and anxiety due to trauma. Our first session The first session will be an opportunity to get to know each other and find out how the relationship can be built.
