I’m an Art Therapist who works with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, autism, stress, and difficulty expressing or managing emotions. I know that sometimes it can be hard to put what you’re feeling into words. That’s where art therapy can offer another way to explore what’s going on. I combine art therapy with traditional talk therapy, mindfulness, coping skills, and mind-body approaches based on what feels most comfortable and helpful for you. You don’t need to consider yourself creative or be “good at art” to work with me. Art therapy isn’t about making something that looks a certain way. It’s about having another way to express yourself, process difficult experiences, understand your emotions, and build healthier ways of coping. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and work toward changes that feel meaningful to you.

Getting to know Antoinette Huryk

You don’t need to consider yourself creative or be “good at art” to work with me. Art therapy isn’t about making something that looks a certain way. What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re not sure what to say or where to begin. You don’t have to have everything figured out before coming in. My style is warm, creative, supportive, and collaborative. I work with each client differently because therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some days we may spend most of the session talking. Other days, we may use art therapy, mindfulness, creative expression, or coping strategies to help you work through something that feels difficult. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, autism, stress, and emotional regulation concerns. Whether you’re trying to process something from the past, cope with what’s happening right now, or simply understand yourself better, we’ll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. And there’s never any pressure to make art. It’s simply another tool we can use when it feels helpful.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what has been difficult lately, what you would like support with, what has or hasn’t helped in the past, and what you hope to get out of therapy. From there, we’ll identify goals together and figure out what approach works best for you. Depending on your needs, sessions may include talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness, emotional processing, coping skills, and mind-body techniques. For children and teens, creative expression can provide another way to communicate feelings and experiences that may be difficult to explain. With adults, art therapy can also be used to explore emotions, trauma, grief, stress, patterns, and experiences in a different way. There’s no set formula for therapy. We’ll continue checking in about what feels helpful and adjust our work as your needs and goals change.
