April Stallworth, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm April! Hello, my name is Dr. April Stallworth, LPC. I am a 20+ year veteran clinician with a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Bowie State University. My specialties include trauma, PTSD, anxiety/depression, family, marital/couples counseling, domestic violence, and non-trauma-focused anxiety. I also specialize in listening and providing feedback for those still working through their wellness journey. We may not always have a word for how we feel, but if something impacts our feelings, it’s okay to get therapy to explore that. My approach My primary approaches are Cognitive Therapy/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, and Psychotherapy. I believe getting to the foundation of issues is the best start to changing negative or non-helpful patterns as we grow and change throughout life. My focus My areas of focus include trauma, domestic violence, toxic relationships, anxiety, relational issues, marriage/family/couples counseling, general life as it relates to anxiety/depression, women’s issues, and men’s issues. My communication style Some sessions may be challenging due to the sensitive nature of topics. My goal is to develop a trusting, mutual rapport to keep sessions encouraging, focused, emotionally supportive, and productive. It’s important to infuse humor and moments of reality into sessions. I am direct, but not rude. The goal is not to waste time but to help ensure you achieve what you’ve set out to. My journey to therapy My journey toward becoming a clinician started with working with children who are differently abled. From there, I expanded my expertise in trauma and recognizing trauma responses. I wanted to educate others—professionals, families, and clients—on truly understanding what they were experiencing and offer tangible, applicable tools to help them feel successful as they worked through, supported, or co-managed someone’s emotional health.
