Getting to know Arealus Pough

I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I attended New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire where I received a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy. I attended Boston University’s School of Social Work and received a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work with a specialization in Macro Social Work. Shortly after graduating Boston University, I obtained my licensure as a clinical social worker and a few years later I obtained my license as an independent clinical social worker. In terms of treatment, I consider myself eclectic. I utilize a wide array of techniques and theories to serve my clients, however I primarily utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques when working with clients. I believe that clients are the experts when it comes to their mental health and my primary role is to assist them with discovering and discussing what techniques, interventions, and solutions would serve them best in managing their mental health. I work collaboratively with clients to discuss how they have been successful in the past in managing their mental health. I also utilize techniques from theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
