I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Virginia with a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I bring over 30 years of experience working in the mental health and rehabilitation fields with a broad range of clients. I enjoy helping my clients navigate difficult situations and life transitions by recognizing the strengths they already possess and learning how to use these strengths to address their challenges. These challenges might include losing a loved one, changing jobs, divorce, aging, chronic illness, disability, or other major life changes. I assist clients in identifying barriers to successfully managing their difficulties and gaining the skills needed to reach the place they want to be. My approach centers on helping clients discover their strengths and positive attributes to navigate tough situations and life events. I focus on what clients are capable of doing rather than what they cannot do. I believe we can build on existing strengths to overcome challenges and find solutions that move us forward in the right direction. I especially enjoy working with adults facing major changes and transitions such as loss, divorce, job loss, retirement adjustment, aging, or chronic illness and disability. Therapy focuses on helping clients gain the skills and confidence needed to adjust to their challenges, address barriers, and establish a plan for their future. In my communication style, I create a friendly, warm, and accepting environment where clients feel supported and comfortable sharing without judgment. I am an excellent listener and have often been told I am very easy to talk to.
