Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Arthur! I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor/Certified Addiction Specialist who has been practicing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for over 20 years with individuals, couples, youth, and families. My approach elevates mood, reduces anxiety, and improves overall functioning by increasing coping skills using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) interventions. My areas of focus include couples counseling and addictions. I also have over 25 years of experience working with individuals experiencing emotional or behavioral issues, including anxiety, depression, anger, and trauma, as well as military and LGBTQI+ issues. I use verbal and non-verbal methods to help you overcome emotional or psychological distress. My style is interactive and challenging yet positive and compassionate. I received my Master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from California State University, Long Beach, and my Bachelor's degree in Communications from Temple University in Philadelphia. I will help you create new ways of thinking to improve your mood, relationships, and life circumstances. In the first session, I will try to understand the situation that brought you to therapy, including current symptoms and relevant historical information. I will give you tangible exercises or information at the end of the session that you can practice or use.
