Getting to know Asha Utz

Hi there, I'm Asha. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of New England, and I am also certified in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMH-C). I am currently accepting clients for teletherapy sessions where I provide EMDR and/or CBT. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and considering if I am the therapist for you! If you take anything away from my profile, let it be to always remember you are worthy. Do you feel pulled in a million directions by the stress of daily life, overstimulated by the many hats you wear at home, work, with your children, partner, family, or friends? Perhaps you are struggling to cope with the effects of childhood and/or perinatal trauma. Are you a current or expectant parent unsure how to manage previously diagnosed or new onset depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders? Or maybe you’re having difficulty putting yourself first but know deep inside it’s time to make that change. I am ready to be part of your support network. Together, we can identify what stands in the way of a better tomorrow. Let’s work together to process what you have gone through or are experiencing now. I’ll help you gather the resources you need to begin coping positively. Whether that means reprocessing trauma through a healing lens, managing mental health symptoms, or developing a plan toward a better future, I am here to help. If you found my profile seeking guidance through perinatal mental health, I am ready to be your guiding light! Living and experiencing positive life events while coping with a mental health disorder is possible, as is finding peace within chaos. Let me help you refocus, heal, and feel supported along the way. Seeking therapy can feel scary. Many people avoid their past trauma, daily stressors, and fears, yet continue to struggle with symptoms they can’t fully manage.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After our initial intake session, we will begin your treatment while simultaneously building rapport. A trusting relationship is so important between us in order for you to get the best outcome. I will always listen to what you want to work on coming into session, as I am big on the client centered approach; this is your time. Whether through CBT, EMDR or talk therapy, I will guide you through processing your traumatic experiences, mental health symptoms, negative cognitions and goals. We will begin each session with an update on what is and what is not working for you. We will end each session with debriefing and positive affirmations to help continue your healing outside of our time together and assist you with getting through your day!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I have a hard time trusting people, doctors especially, but she has made it easy to open up to her. I honestly couldn't be happier with her services and recommend her to anyone who is looking to start therapy.
I felt comfortable with her right away.
Asha is amazing. Her presence is warm and welcoming. I immediately felt comfortable around her and our sessions always takes me by surprise. In a good way. I feel me growing as a person and I have her to thank ??
I searched high and low for the right fit when it came to counseling services. I was so glad to have found Asha. She is genuine and very approachable. She has helped me so much and I look forward to healing through our sessions
Asha is always honest with me and direct, but in a way that does not feel like I am under attack. I genuinely feel supported and heard and like, no matter how trivial the issue, whatever I bring to the table that day really does matter. She is SO good at what she does, but remains humble and genuine, finding perfect moments to talk about her own experiences and life.
I have seen a few therapists in my life. And it’s always been a one and done type of deal. I’ve been seeing Asha for almost 2 years. She’s made me feel so comfortable and I would recommend her to anyone!
In such a short time, I have made incredible progress with my mental health treatment. I never expected EMDR to work so well and Asha has been so helpful in helping me process and narrow in on what to focus on in sessions. I feel hopeful and confident in continuing this therapy and having a successful outcome.

She has a warm, open disposition when talking with patients. She led me through exactly what she plans on carrying out for our sessions, went through every step of the process and how it works, and provided lots of time for me to ask questions. I appreciated that she also took the time to make me feel comfortable with speaking to her over the video call, and gave great advice on consulting with my insurance since this is the first time I’m trying to put everything together all on my own. Overall, she’s a wonderful person and knows what she’s doing.
