Psychotherapist
700 12th St NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC
I'm a Florida native though I've called DC home since 2019. I'm a career changer; I worked for a major tech company for almost a decade before pursuing my Masters at Northwestern University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. When I'm not in the therapy room I'm at my boxing gym, catching a basketball game, or puzzling. In my private practice I see adults ages 24+ of all gender identities, and I specialize in men and men's mental health. I am sensitive to the male experience in today's society. I provide a safe space to explore masculine identities and emotionality without the judgement of the outside world. My training is in psychodynamic theory; I am trained to look at human behavior through unconscious processes that are rooted in childhood. Together with my clients we explore how their past is informing their present, while accounting for societal systems. I draw from Reality Therapy by empowering my clients with autonomy and ability to make choices. We will embrace both what is and what is not within their control, and how they can make valuable choices accordingly.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is collaborative, direct, and data-driven. First we will set goals for our work. We will work as a team, where sometimes I direct us and other times you take the lead. I consistently check in and solicit feedback. It is crucial you feel like you are getting what you want out of our time together. My goal as your therapist is to help you understand yourself and support you through the "how" of moving forward. Most of the work will be done between sessions, so I assign actionable homework that will help you meet your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The bulk of a session will be balancing the content you want to talk about and what is happening while you talk about it. We will explore your body's reactions to what you are saying and what they might mean. At the end of each session we will reflect on how it went it for you, which is a great time to share feedback about what's working and what could be improved.
