Getting to know Ashley McCracken Rankin

Hi, I'm Ashley Rankin! I'm a psychotherapist who specializes in individual and couples counseling, and I'm passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges and build stronger relationships. Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, I moved to Central Florida in 2018 to pursue my graduate education. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Appalachian State University and later completed my Master of Clinical Social Work at the University of Central Florida. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Florida, with expertise in psychotherapy, crisis management, and treatment planning. When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me at home in St. Cloud with my husband and our German Shepherd, Rusty. I love spending my free time reading and running—both activities that help me recharge and stay grounded. I'm grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside people during pivotal moments in their lives, and I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session is all about getting to know each other and creating a foundation of trust and comfort. We'll begin with introductions where I'll share a bit about my approach and background, and I'll invite you to tell me about yourself—not just what brings you to therapy, but who you are as a person. This is your space, so we'll discuss your goals for therapy at whatever pace feels right for you, and you're welcome to share as much or as little as you're comfortable with about what's been happening in your life. I know that opening up to someone new can feel vulnerable, so I'll follow your lead and never push you beyond your boundaries. The atmosphere will be warm, inviting, and genuinely supportive—think of it as a collaborative conversation where we're building a partnership focused on your wellbeing and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe in meeting you exactly where you are with warmth and genuine understanding, creating a safe space where you can explore your challenges without judgment. Whether you're navigating family dynamics, working through anxious thoughts, or seeking greater balance in your life, I'm here to support your journey with compassion and optimism. Together, we will build on what's already working while addressing what feels stuck, always respecting your unique perspective and goals.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Feels like I'm talking to an old friend every time, she finds a way to ask all the right questions in a way that is super insightful and helps me realize the roots of my problems. Super easy for me to open up and be vulnerable with!!!
I have no bad things to say about her. I have had 2 other therapists (psychologists) and they didn't go the extra mile that Ashley goes. I feel as though she actually helps attack my problems head on, and makes an effort to revisit some other things brought up in the past just to see if there is any improvement.
Ashley has helped me cope with certain things in my life and begin taking steps to better my mental health and overall well being. Would recommend her to anyone in my life who needs the help I needed
She is very understanding, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who is caring and willing to really listen to your issues.
