“Ashley’s helped me tremendously with my anxiety, worries of the future, and need for control. With our conversations and tools that she’s shared, I’ve been able to be present and not so focused on what *could* happen. I really reflect on the questions she asks me and how she challenges me to see situations. It’s really helped me to learn to accept reality, and that I don’t need to work myself up by unnecessarily planning for future outcome.”

Getting to know Ashley McMillian

Hey! I'm Ashley. Are you overwhelmed? Depressed? Anxious? Struggling to process a traumatic experience? Let's talk. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from Radford University, and I am very passionate about what I do. Life is stressful, and everyone can benefit from therapy at some point. I will provide you with a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be open, and we can work together to address what's going on. In addition, I will equip you with practical tools and insights and empower you to overcome any challenge you may face. I enjoy helping individuals overcome mental health struggles and have been practicing as an outpatient therapist for over five years. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In our sessions, I will provide a compassionate, safe environment while offering evidence-based techniques to make lasting changes. Are you ready?

What should a new client know about working with you?

After the first session, I strive for you to leave feeling hopeful and empowered. As we continue to work together, you will be given tools, actions steps, insights, and education on how to implement these skills into your own life.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

She'll work around what YOU want from therapy. She has a very friendly smile and gives you all the time you need to talk about difficult things. She's amazing!
If you're just starting therapy - it's a nerve wrecking experience. However, Ashley makes you feel very heard and comforted no matter what - she is very understanding and patient. I've never had a therapist that was accommodating and willing to work with you to come up with a plan and help you. I can't wait to work with Ashley more!
