Ashley Swanson, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there! My name is Dr. Ashley Swanson, and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a doctorate in Education. I am located in Southern California and would be excited to work with you. My focus is on teens and young adults who are looking to find their passions, build self-esteem, and develop strategies to overcome barriers that hinder personal success. I use motivational interviewing, problem-solving therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients make progress and feel empowered. My approach to therapy is flexible, as each client has different needs. I primarily use motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy because I believe that changing one's mindset can lead to feeling better about oneself. I follow a client-centered approach, meaning the client and their needs come first. The goals are set by the client to encourage ownership of their personal success as they work toward achieving those goals. I believe my style of therapy works best for teens and young adults, especially those struggling with depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, and social pressures. I aim to help clients gain a more positive perspective and outlook on life. My communication style is calm and, most importantly, comfortable. I create an environment of safety and trust during sessions so clients feel at ease discussing their innermost personal situations and feelings. I listen without judgment because I want everyone I work with to feel validated and heard. I have been in the field of social work for over 10 years and have worked in the K-12 public school system as a school social worker for more than 7 years.
