Getting to know Avery May

Going into therapy and talking to a “stranger” can be overwhelming and scary; that is why I believe in making therapy as enjoyable as possible. I do my absolute best to make you feel comfortable talking by getting to know your interests and using humor. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University, where I also earned my MEd. My modalities include EMDR, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and CBT. These approaches are tailored to each person, as there is no “one size fits all” technique in therapy. I have worked primarily with families, children, teenagers, and young adults as a therapist. My past clients have struggled with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, family conflict, and low self-esteem. I enjoy going to the beach and, most importantly, hanging out with my cats in my spare time.
