Psychotherapist
CA
The provider is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Resilient Heart Therapy. Hi, I’m Aviva. People often come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand—whether related to anxiety, relationships, perfectionism, or major life transitions. Often there is a sense that something deeper is driving these struggles, even if it’s hard to put into words. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, eating disorders, body image concerns, perfectionism, and women’s issues. I help clients better understand the emotional patterns shaping their experiences while developing a healthier relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and insight-oriented while also practical. I integrate evidence-based treatments such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Brainspotting to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, process deeper experiences, and create meaningful, lasting change. I genuinely love the work I do. Supporting people as they gain insight, develop emotional balance, and build a more compassionate relationship with themselves is something I feel grateful to be part of every day. When we begin to understand the patterns shaping our lives, we gain the freedom to choose different ways of relating to ourselves and others. My background experience • Alliant University, Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy (2011) • Professional experience working within mental health treatment centers • Clinical experience supporting individuals with eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges • Trained in DBT- and CBT-informed interventions for emotional regulation and distress • Certified in Brainspotting (2022)

What should a new client know about working with you?

I enjoy getting to know my clients and creating a space where you feel safe to talk openly about what you’re going through. My work is both relational and practical. I often incorporate DBT and CBT skills to help clients build emotional regulation, manage overwhelming feelings, and develop healthier ways of coping. Therapy with me is collaborative. We work together to better understand the patterns shaping your experiences while building tools that support meaningful and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Prior to your first appointment, you will receive documents to complete through our client portal. Our team will verify your insurance benefits ahead of time so the billing process is smooth by the time we meet for your first session. Please be sure to check your email and text messages, as we may reach out if additional information is needed after you schedule through Zocdoc. During our first sessions, we will spend time getting to know your background, understanding the challenges that brought you to therapy, and identifying what you would like to achieve in our work together. From there, we will collaborate on a treatment plan that may include exploring emotional patterns, developing coping skills, and working toward a healthier relationship with yourself.
