My name is Barbara Doll, and I am a licensed independent social worker with a supervisory credential, as well as a Licensed Independent Chemical and Dependency Counselor (LICDC). I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. I base my therapy practice on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, and Choice Theory/Reality Therapy. My approach is an unbiased, people-centered therapy style where the client’s goals take priority, and my goals as a therapist remain secondary. Over the years, I have worked with many survivors of domestic abuse, individuals navigating divorce and parenting challenges (both men and women), as well as those experiencing depression, anxiety, and grief. I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere for my clients by listening more than talking and taking only a few notes during sessions. This helps foster an environment where clients feel safe and heard. My journey into mental healthcare began after a year or more of therapy following my divorce while raising four children. My therapist recognized in me a natural ability to connect with people and a passion for helping others gain insight into their dreams, goals, and the obstacles preventing them from achieving those goals. My goal for you is to provide a non-judgmental space where, through curious listening, you can develop insight into your own needs and therapy goals. I take all goals seriously and work with you to determine the best starting point for therapy. In our first session, we will get to know each other, discuss confidentiality, and explore what would make therapy sessions comfortable for you.
