Barbara Hayes-Murray, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Barbara! Hey, my name is Bobbie Hayes and I've been a therapist for over 40 years. I'm lucky to do a job I love every day. I'm a Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Addictions Therapist. **My approach** My goal is to help clients examine the story they tell themselves about their life and use whichever clinical approach best suits their needs for change. I work with narrative therapy, Gestalt, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. **My focus** I've worked with a broad clientele, with a strong background in addictions and eating disorders. My practice focuses on relationship issues, helping people discover who they are, and women's issues, among others. **My communication style** I do both virtual and face-to-face sessions. I like my office because it's cozy and soothing, and I try to create the same environment during virtual sessions-without distractions and with my full focus on you. **My journey to mental healthcare** I decided to become a therapist when my father was sober from addiction. He went to school for counseling, and I used to go to work with him. This has been my path for most of my adult life. **My goals for you** Together, we'll determine a goal and figure out objectives to achieve it. We'll also identify any barriers that may interfere with progress. Timing and recognizing when objectives are met is important. **My first session with you** In the first session, I want to get to know you and listen to what brings you to therapy now. I'll summarize what I hear and help set some goals.
