Getting to know Baylen Roundtree

You've spent enough time trying to figure it out on your own. Whether you're feeling disconnected in your relationship, questioning your identity, or exhausted from carrying everything yourself, therapy can help you move forward with clarity and confidence. I specialize in working with mixed-race individuals, young adults, and couples navigating identity, intimacy, anxiety, and relationship challenges throughout Allen, Plano, McKinney, and virtually across Texas. Many of my clients are high-achieving people who look like they have everything together on the outside but privately struggle with overthinking, self-doubt, communication, people-pleasing, or feeling like they don't fully belong. Others come to therapy because they want stronger relationships, healthier intimacy, or a deeper understanding of themselves. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest while also providing tools they can begin using outside of session. Therapy isn't just about talking through problems—it's about creating meaningful, lasting change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often tell me they're surprised by how comfortable they feel opening up during our sessions. My goal is to create a space that's genuine, supportive, and free of judgment while also helping you identify the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I believe therapy should be both compassionate and practical. Along with processing difficult experiences and emotions, we'll develop skills to help you manage anxiety, improve communication, strengthen self-confidence, and navigate life's challenges more effectively. Every client is different, so I tailor therapy to your unique goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we'll focus on creating meaningful changes that extend beyond our time in session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first few sessions, we'll focus on getting to know your story, identifying what's bringing you to therapy, and creating goals that feel meaningful to you. We'll explore the patterns, experiences, and stressors that may be contributing to anxiety, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, or emotional overwhelm. As therapy progresses, I tailor each session to your individual needs using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and other skills-based interventions. Depending on your goals, we may focus on improving communication, strengthening emotional regulation, building self-confidence, processing difficult experiences, or developing healthier coping strategies. My goal is for you to leave therapy not only feeling heard and supported, but also with practical tools you can apply in everyday life.
