Hi there, I'm Beatriz! My name is Beatriz Norona. I’m a licensed mental health therapist with close to 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from Barry University. The majority of my work has been in the areas of trauma, mood disorders, family therapy, and working with adolescents. My approach I feel comfortable working with solution-focused therapy, client-centered therapy, family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My focus I have worked with various clients from geriatrics to children, and across many different settings. I’ve worked in inpatient units, community mental health centers, and with telehealth clients. I excel in working with clients facing mood disorders, grief, or trauma. My communication style I like to keep my environment inviting, which allows the client to feel comfortable. My journey to mental healthcare I like to say that I stumbled onto the field of psychology by accident. I was a nursing major, and my roommate in college invited me to her Psychology 101 class. I quickly fell in love with the concepts and how fascinating the mind is—and the rest was history. My goals for you During the first session, I like to have an idea of the client’s goals for therapy. Then together, we create short- and long-term goals for a successful therapy journey. My first session with you Clients can expect to communicate their goals for therapy and share three things they would like to work on first.
