Berkley Conner, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
Hi there, I'm Berkley! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and work collaboratively with clients to help them overcome challenges and build resilience. I have worked in mental health since 2019. When I am not practicing therapy, I spend time with my family and my huskies, Sandie & Stormie. I am also a first-time mom to my precious daughter. **My approach** My therapeutic approach is rooted in a person-centered and cognitive behavioral framework, with a strong emphasis on trauma and attachment. My work focuses on childhood experiences and how they impact current functioning. As a Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Facilitator, I support families in fostering secure attachments and help parents view children’s challenging behaviors as expressions of unmet needs. Using the COSP framework, I guide caregivers in becoming a secure base and safe haven for their children. **My focus** Since entering the field, I have worked with children, teenagers, adults, and families. Most of my career has been spent supporting adolescents and their caregivers, focusing on developing secure attachments. I am open to working with anyone eager to better understand themselves. **My communication style** My communication style is direct yet gentle. I prioritize honesty in sessions, conveying messages thoughtfully and with care. It is essential for me to cultivate an atmosphere of comfort and safety where clients feel welcomed and supported. Working with me is a collaborative journey toward self-discovery and growth, where your feelings and experiences are valued and respected. **My journey to mental healthcare** Growing up, mental health was rarely discussed, which often left me feeling misunderstood. This fuels my passion for creating a space where clients feel truly seen and heard.
