Bernadette Graham, LPCC

Psychotherapist
OH
Bernadette Graham, LPCC (OH) – I hold a Master’s in Counseling from Argosy University. My approach to therapy employs an eclectic model, using various interventions tailored to each individual client’s needs. I believe it is essential to address psychological issues while promoting emotional well-being. Two of my primary focus areas are Grief and Bereavement and Veterans. In both areas, I most often utilize therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Narrative Therapy, Coping and Adjustment Strategies, Trauma Processing, Reintegration into civilian life, managing societal and life changes, and building support networks. My theoretical approach begins with establishing rapport to create a welcoming and safe environment, fostering trust through empathy and a non-judgmental attitude. I identify clients’ needs through their previous mental health therapy or self-reported symptoms. Collaborating with clients in goal setting ensures their experience is focused and meaningful, with interventions tailored to their preferences. I prioritize maintaining active engagement and developing coping strategies early in therapy so clients can begin to see progress. The most common theoretical approaches I use are person-centered, existential, and cognitive behavioral therapies. I typically work with high-functioning adults aged 18 to 70. I am comfortable treating individuals in an office setting or via telehealth, whether they are new to therapy or have prior experience. I work with clients who have chosen medication management or prefer to engage solely in talk therapy. I do not typically treat individuals with a history of harm to self or others in extreme circumstances, nor those who have been incarcerated for felonies involving harm to others. Additionally, I do not work with clients who have a predisposition to poor prognosis outcomes such as schizophrenia, psychosis/psychotic breaks, or personality disorders.

I was excited for my first appointment with this provider. I waited 20 minutes for the virtual meeting to start, but no one ever joined. I contacted the office through the appointment app and explained what happened but I got no response. A day later, I received confirmation that the meeting had been cancelled. I, however, got no apology, no explanation (maybe technical issues), and no offer to reschedule. I found this to be very unprofessional . I would NOT recommend this provider.
