As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families find healing, connection, and a greater sense of peace. I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel truly seen and understood while navigating life’s challenges. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens through insight, emotional safety, and connection. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions, as well as couples seeking to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen their emotional bond. I also support families, children, and teens in improving relationships, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and EMDR, and I integrate these evidence-based approaches with psychodynamic, family systems, and cognitive behavioral techniques. This allows me to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs while addressing both present concerns and underlying patterns. As a bilingual therapist fluent in English and Korean, I value cultural sensitivity and strive to create an inclusive environment for clients from diverse backgrounds. With a background in both education and counseling, I bring a deep understanding of developmental and relational dynamics across the lifespan. I am committed to helping clients build self-awareness, develop effective coping strategies, and create lasting, meaningful change in their lives and relationships. I consider it an honor to walk alongside my clients in their journey toward healing, growth, and more fulfilling connections.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make that process feel as comfortable and supportive as possible. Clients often experience me as warm, calm, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a space where you can be open and honest without fear of criticism, and where you feel genuinely understood. Our work together is collaborative. I will meet you where you are, help you clarify your goals, and gently guide you toward deeper insight and meaningful change. I balance empathy with thoughtful feedback, helping you not only process emotions but also develop practical tools you can use in your daily life. If you are coming in as an individual, we will explore patterns, stressors, and underlying experiences that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck. If you are coming in as a couple or family, I will help you slow down interactions, understand each other more clearly, and create new ways of communicating that feel safer and more connected. I often integrate evidence-based approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, and EMDR, depending on your needs. This means our sessions may include exploring past experiences, identifying thought patterns, building coping skills, and working through emotional blocks. Most importantly, you can expect to feel supported, respected, and actively engaged in your growth. Therapy is not about being “fixed” but about gaining clarity, building resilience, and creating a life and relationships that feel more aligned and fulfilling.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is thoughtful, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. In the first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you—your history, current concerns, relationships, and goals for therapy. This helps us build a strong foundation of trust while also identifying the patterns or challenges you’d like to work on. From there, we create a shared plan for treatment. I’ll help you understand what may be driving your thoughts, emotions, or relationship dynamics, while also introducing practical tools you can begin using right away. Sessions are active and engaging. Some days may focus on processing emotions or past experiences, while others may center on learning new skills, improving communication, or navigating a specific situation. For individuals, this often includes increasing self-awareness, identifying unhelpful thought patterns, and developing healthier ways to cope and respond. For couples and families, we work on slowing down interactions, understanding each other’s emotional experiences, and building more secure, connected relationships. I integrate approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, family systems, and EMDR when appropriate, always adjusting based on your pace and comfort level. Throughout the process, we regularly check in on your progress and adjust goals as needed. My role is to support, guide, and challenge you in a compassionate way, so you can create meaningful, lasting change both in and outside of therapy.
