5500 Ming Ave, Ste 495, Bakersfield, CA
My name is Bobbie Martin, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master?s in Social Work from California State University, Bakersfield. I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years, supporting clients with a wide range of mental health diagnoses including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, grief and loss, and substance use disorders. I have worked with clients as young as 8 years old and as old as 87. In my practice, I like to use client-centered approaches, solution-focused and goal-oriented methods, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed therapy, to name a few. My goal is to assist my clients in reaching theirs. I believe that no single model fits all, so I take an eclectic approach in sessions to help clients achieve their goals. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client?s needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and client-centered, solution-focused approaches, as these modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and work together toward the desired goal. My focus I have the most experience working with individuals 18 years and older. I can see you individually, as a couple, or in a family setting. It has been my experience that the modalities I use are especially helpful for people dealing with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, and grief and loss. My communication style My communication style is calm and laid-back. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking to me about anything without fear of judgment. My journey to therapy I like to establish a working relationship with my clients and assist them in defining what they want out of therapy?their goals?and what being in therapy means. My goals for you Building therapeutic rapport is very important to me. During the first session, I would like us to spend time discussing what is bringing you into therapy.
