Boisey Bristo, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Boisey! My name is Boisey Bristo, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Brain Injury Specialist based in Ft. Worth, Texas, delivering services statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. I work with adolescents and adults, specializing in anxiety disorders, mood disorders, stress and adjustment challenges, trauma, culture and diversity, and brain injury. My counseling philosophy is, “every journey begins with the first step.” My approach I take an integrated approach to meet clients where they are, based on individual needs. My therapeutic principles are grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused strategies to help clients gain insight, strengthen the mind-body connection, and establish a vision for wellness. My focus Most clients present with anxiety and depression, but I have also worked with eating disorders, personality disorders, autism, substance abuse/addiction, and psychotic disorders. My focus is on helping clients achieve wellness through acceptance and change. My communication style My style is easygoing, authentic, and empowering. I aim to create a safe, trusting therapeutic alliance through compassion, empathy, active listening, and a non-judgmental approach. My journey to therapy My journey to becoming a therapist is personal. As an African American, I understand the generational trauma many Black Americans face due to systemic oppression. I lost my stepfather to a drug overdose, and two close friends have PTSD and schizophrenia. Representation matters, and I believe being a therapist is my purpose and a way to serve my community. I welcome all who need support and guidance. My goals for you I believe goal setting is essential to guiding the therapeutic journey.
