Bonnie Galvan, MEd

Bonnie Galvan, MEd

Psychotherapist
TX
My name is Bonnie Galvan, and I am a Licensed Therapist (LPC, LPCC) in Texas and New Mexico. I am a person-centered therapist who uses a wide variety of techniques tailored directly to whatever issues my patients are facing. I hold a MEd in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Texas, El Paso. My approach The most common approach I use is listening and developing a plan of action together based on a person-centered approach, solution-focused therapy, and at times reality therapy. This helps my patients understand their problems so we can find the most appropriate solutions. My focus With over 15 years of experience, I treat anxiety, depression, family conflict, and gender, sexual orientation, or identity-related issues. I work well with a variety of ages and am culturally sensitive, able to work with any and all ethnicities. My communication style I base therapy on mutual respect, with a down-to-earth and open communication style paired with a matter-of-fact, directive type of therapy. In other words, I am proactive and direct. My journey to therapy Therapy is a process that, in my opinion, can help anyone willing to look at things differently and try new approaches to achieve better results. I believe we all need help at some point and that we all carry the effects of our histories, families, and relationships?a common experience I have also addressed in my own life. I became a therapist to help people find their way without judgment or lecturing?just a regular person helping you see what changes can do in your life to make it better and more manageable. My goals for you Goal setting is a team effort. We will set and formulate goals that are reachable and appropriate?goals we create together, but you always remain in control of your therapeutic goals based on mutual regard and planning. My first session with you As my client, you should expect a nonjudgmental environment with real talk and real solutions?without pretentious lectures or shame.
