Brenda Johnson, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hello! My name is Brenda Johnson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Grief Counselor, and Certified Dementia Practitioner with over 15 years of direct client experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Letourneau University. I enjoy helping clients address various issues, especially in the areas of relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and grief/loss. I have experience working with the geriatric population and adults. My approach I consider myself eclectic but regularly utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and supportive therapy. My focus I work with adults from 18 to 99 years of age dealing with various life situations. My communication style Collaboration, communication, trust, and safety are core tenets of my therapy. I want my clients to feel comfortable, as I don’t judge people—we’ve all lived and done things in our lives, both good and not so good. My journey to therapy I’ve been in the mental health field for over 15 years. I enjoy being a therapist and was drawn to this field because I have a passion for human behavior. My goal is to assist my clients in identifying what they need for themselves and their lives. I tell everyone I work with, “It’s all about you and what you need for your life.” My goals for you I allow my clients to decide on the goals they have for therapy, with some input and guidance from me. Sometimes we may not know what we need out of therapy at first, but after a few sessions, most clients have a clearer idea of what they need for their lives. My first session with you During our first session, I may ask a lot of questions because I want to get to know who you are. This helps me assist you with different situations that may need to be addressed during our sessions.
