Brenda Santillan, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Brenda Santillan, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles, CA, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. I work with adults ages 18-60 and specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and LGBTQIA+ issues, using person-centered, trauma-informed psychotherapy to assist clients in healing. My approach As a therapist, my approach varies based on each client’s needs. I most frequently use person-centered and psychodynamic modalities to understand a client's point of view. My focus I typically work with young adults and adults (18-60) dealing with family concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, developmental concerns, LGBTQIA+ issues, communication concerns, religious trauma, and/or self-harm. I help clients navigate current stressors and develop new coping strategies. My communication style My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want clients to feel comfortable, which may include some swear words here and there. As we meet, communication will be shaped to best fit clients. My journey to mental healthcare My work centers on providing a positive experience tailored to your current needs and stressors. I work from the perspective of helping the individual within their community, considering events and stressors like work, school, family, racism, sexism, and culture to increase your strengths in managing them. My goal is not to “fix” you but to highlight the strengths you already have. I see myself not as a teacher but as an advocate to increase your self-understanding and help you feel balanced. My goals for you As a team, I work with clients to identify the goals they want to achieve in this chapter of their therapy.
