Brett Collins, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Brett! Sometimes oppression can feel like depression. Join me to discover ways to liberate yourself and your relationships from whatever is weighing you down. My focus Common goals of my clients are to heal from trauma, to strengthen coping skills, and/or to explore their various identities. As a Social Worker, I believe that therapy can be a tool for social justice and welcome clients who identify as Neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, Kinky, and/or Poly. My approach I use a combination of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Attachment Theory. My approach is to collaborate with you to create practical and sustainable changes in your relationships, starting with your relationship to yourself. My communication style My communication style is relational, relaxed, and direct. Our work will start with me earning your trust and with detailed informed consent about treatment options and goals. Clients find me to be deeply empathetic while still encouraging growth and accountability. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to being a therapist started out in community mental health, with a specialization in Infant-Parent Mental Health. My work has evolved alongside the growth of my own children - who have been my greatest teachers - to include folks of all ages and life stages. It is an absolute honor to join a client on their healing journey. My goals for you You are always the expert on your life and my role/style is more like that of a consultant, offering tools and strategies for you to choose from. My clients often redefine their goals as their work evolves so I regularly ask for feedback and renew consent to ensure our work is collaborative and effective. Our first session Our first session is a relaxed opportunity to get to know each other - for me to learn about what you're goals are and for you to learn about who I am and how I work.
