Dr. Brian Gotterer, LCP, PsyD

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Brian Gotterer. I am a licensed psychologist in California, providing services via telehealth. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and a Master's in Psychology from Alliant International University, as well as a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, ages, and issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship and couples' challenges, parenting concerns, career difficulties, life transitions, and other general matters. I work collaboratively with each client to help them achieve their individual goals. Because every client is unique, my approach, style, and techniques adapt to meet your specific needs. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and psychodynamic modalities to help clients move forward, drawing on other approaches when beneficial. I tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to fit your unique circumstances. From my experience, we all benefit from an empathetic ear-someone on your side who can help you explore and work through whatever you might be facing in a safe space. Whatever life throws your way, we can work through it together. My communication style is calm, personable, and adaptive. I strive to ensure clients feel comfortable discussing anything with me. I aim to be the empathetic therapist I would want to have, and this commitment will be reflected in our work together. Goal setting is a collaborative process where we define what you want to accomplish during our time together. In the first session, we will identify therapeutic goals, which may evolve over time. Our initial focus is building mutual trust and comfort with the therapeutic process. Your progress toward goals will be tracked throughout therapy. During the initial session, we will also discuss your personal reasons for seeking therapy.
