Psychotherapist
OH
Hi there, I'm Brian! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio. I approach counseling from a holistic perspective that focuses on the well-being of the whole person. I work with a broad number of issues but tend to focus on trauma and related issues, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, grief and loss, LGBTQIA+ issues including gender identity, and people living with intellectual disabilities. My therapy sessions tend to be conversational, educational, and person-centered. I usually start with CBT or DBT depending on the situation and then move forward with ACT, Relational Cultural Therapy, and Play Therapy. I work with a broad group of clients, often people who have been through some of life’s most difficult situations. My focus is on those experiencing trauma symptoms, depression, anxiety, and other challenging circumstances. I strive to create a peaceful, calming environment in sessions, always focusing on the client first and foremost. Becoming a therapist has been a second career for me. I pastored a non-denominational church for 35 years, counseling people on grief, marriage and family, and other issues. After retiring, I earned a second undergraduate degree and a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Heritage Hall at Malone University. Counseling at this stage in life has been a true pleasure. I work to explore each client’s own goals and then offer suggestions to help them reach the place they desire. In our first session, you can expect to discuss what has been happening, your personal history, and any prior treatment. After the intake, we will explore your hopes for treatment and how it can impact your future goals.
