Brian Walsh, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Brian! My name is Brian Walsh, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with over 5 years of experience. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Nova University. I'm a solution-focused and positive-thinking therapist who believes that willingness to change and hard work can improve your emotional and mental well-being. My approach I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify negative core beliefs, thoughts, and attitudes, providing coping skills to reduce symptoms. I also incorporate mindfulness techniques to help clients recognize physical symptoms of depression, anxiety, addiction, and more, staying present so they can feel in control of their actions. I am solution-focused because the answers lie within each person-they just need the tools to access and use them. At my core, I am a person-centered therapist who values each client's unique experience. My focus I prefer to work with clients aged 16 and older. I specialize in depressive and anxiety disorders but have also treated Bipolar Disorder, Conduct Disorder, addiction, and ADHD. My communication style I am easygoing and non-judgmental, meeting clients where they are emotionally and mentally to build rapport and develop open dialogue. I have a dry sense of humor that helps boost self-esteem, which is often at the core of many disorders. My journey to mental healthcare I struggled with addiction from ages 18 to 27. The treatment I received felt wrong and degrading, which inspired me to help people feel better without judgment for past mistakes. I've always been empathetic, and people often come to me with their problems, so counseling felt like a natural fit. My experience as a patient helps me relate and recognize cognitive dissonance clients may not be aware of. I want to help people feel better and ?raise their bottoms.?
