Getting to know Briana Monroe

Hi there, I'm Briana! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Hawaii. I have spent time in shoes like yours and have deep empathy for those on their journey to greater healing and understanding of themselves and their lives through therapy. I largely see you as a whole picture-a person affected by many different factors in your environment-and how your issues can be connected to other aspects of your life. My approach First and foremost, I offer person-centered therapy. I utilize an eclectic approach that includes many theories and models for treatment. I don't believe therapy is a one-size-fits-all process. I borrow from psychodynamic approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, The Gottman Method, Integrative Sex Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). My focus I serve LGBTQIA+ clients, individuals and couples exploring opening their relationship or polyamory, clients questioning their sexuality and identity, those experiencing sexual issues, clients struggling with anxiety, adults recently diagnosed with ADHD, foster and adoptive parents, clients working on goal-setting, adult children of narcissistic parents, clients coping with grief and loss, and more. My communication style I'm empathetic but real. I'm a good listener, but I don't think therapy should be just listening. People come to therapy often because they are at a difficult spot in their lives and sometimes need a gentle nudge to find their way. I emphasize authenticity and vulnerability, and I consider myself very open and non-judgmental about anything you want to share with me. My journey to mental healthcare I am a social worker at heart and have always been a good listener, deeply empathetic to the pain of others.
