Hi there, I'm Brittany! My name is Brittany Johnson. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia, license #: 0904010165, with over 10 years of experience working with adults and families from diverse backgrounds, providing assessments, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I help individuals utilize spiritual and/or faith-based coping skills and build upon effective strategies while integrating diverse evidence-based approaches. My approach Therapeutic approaches I use include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Anger Management SAMHSA Protocol, and Wellness Recovery Management. I offer a strength-based, client-centered, and holistic approach to individualize care addressing life’s challenges. My focus I work with clients who are working and/or stay-at-home parents, as well as students struggling with mood disorders, adjustment to life changes, anger, grief, relationship and communication issues, sleep difficulties, and work-life balance challenges. My communication style I provide a laid-back, non-judgmental approach, viewing the whole person and factors affecting mind, body, and spirit. I use comedic relief appropriately and am often told I am relatable, which helps put others at ease. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up, I had a true love for people. I gravitated toward those others had thrown away or deemed underdogs—those who had been hurt and held things inside. During preschool, I believed a wet paper towel cured everything, according to my mother. From tears, scraped knees, tantrums, and spills, I tried to help people find calm and peace in their most challenging moments.
