Brittney George, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
Hello! My name is Brittney George, and I am a licensed professional counselor practicing in Virginia. I call myself a therapist "slash" activist because I seek to work with inner and outer barriers that impact a person's mental wellness. It is my joy to help people become less burdened and fragmented, living more authentically and whole. I earned my Master?s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, which laid the foundation for my diverse clinical approach. My approach Therapy should involve collaboration and consent, meaning the client has a right to both be a recipient and an influencer within the therapeutic relationship. In the span of my career, I've worked in multiple treatment environments?using a variety of traditional and nontraditional modalities. From Psychodynamic, Somatic Therapy, and Trauma-Sensitive mindfulness practices to the creative arts and attachment-based systems work, I love to make my methods as individualized and unique as those who seek my services. My focus I feel most passionate about supporting those with concerns of a generational nature, including pregnancy/postpartum needs, couples and family conflict and trauma/stress, as well as historical/racial trauma. I also support those experiencing burnout, poor boundaries, codependency, and values misalignment. My communication style I am insightful, warm, humorous, and patient. I only utilize tools like confrontation if rapport and safety have been established with the client and if necessary for the client?s growth and progress. I firmly believe I don?t have to have ?meanness in my medicine.? My journey to therapy As a teenager, I experienced my first significant loss of a family member. It was sudden, and I was lost and alone. I attended a grief group held at a local hospital and remembered how patient and safe I felt in that setting. Kids like me were sitting with a grown-up who was willing to listen. I wanted to do that for someone else. The rest is history!
