Getting to know Brooke Porter

Hi there, I'm Brooke! My name is Brooke Porter, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a passionate individual who strives to help others along their healing journeys. I focus on joining clients on their paths to strengthen their sense of well-being, increase self-esteem, and achieve personal goals. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology and my Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield. My approach I am a humanistic therapist who is client-centered, focusing on building a strong therapeutic relationship to support the healing process. I incorporate aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy as well as skills from dialectical behavioral therapy, such as mindfulness, meditation, and emotional regulation techniques. My focus I have experience working with a variety of diagnoses. The populations I enjoy working with include those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). My communication style I strive to create a warm, calm, welcoming, and safe environment where clients can grow and improve in areas such as interpersonal interactions, self-love, and relationships. My communication style is open and relaxed. My journey to mental healthcare Since I was a young girl, I have had a passion for helping others through difficult times. There is something very special about witnessing people transform their lives and become who they aspire to be. I hold a special place in my heart for those who overcome life challenges and thrive. My goals for you With each client, we collaboratively set goals to work toward during our time together. I like to utilize S.M.A.R.T. goals—specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound—to guide our progress. My first session with you During our first session, I conduct a biopsychosocial assessment to understand your presenting concerns and the areas you want to focus on.
