What should a new client know about working with you?

I understand how overwhelming it can feel to carry the weight of addiction, emotional pain, or uncertainty about your path forward. Whether you're working to break free from harmful patterns, rebuild your sense of self, or find clarity in your personal or professional life, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be heard, supported, and empowered. Together, we'll identify what matters most to you, develop practical tools for change, and build a more grounded, fulfilling life - one step at a time. My communication style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and empowered to speak openly. I balance active listening with thoughtful feedback, offering practical tools and honest insights while honoring your pace and perspective. Whether we're exploring difficult emotions or working through concrete goals, I strive to make our conversations feel supportive, clear, and meaningful. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by a deep desire to help others feel seen, heard, and supported - especially during life's most difficult moments. Early in my career, I worked across diverse settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and as an adjunct professor teaching master-level social work students to achieve their educational goals and begin their careers. Each experience reinforced my belief in the power of human connection and the importance of creating safe, nonjudgmental spaces for healing. Over the years, I've been drawn to working with adults facing addiction, trauma, and emotional distress - not just because of the challenges they face, but because of the resilience they carry. I've seen firsthand how therapy can help people reclaim their lives, rebuild their confidence, and reconnect with what truly matters to them. Becoming a therapist wasn't just a career choice - it was a calling. I'm honored to walk alongside my clients as they navigate change, confront pain.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I help clients reach their goals by combining evidence-based strategies with a deeply collaborative approach. Together, we clarify what matters most to you - whether it's breaking free from addiction, managing anxiety or depression, healing from trauma, or navigating life transitions. From there, we develop a clear, personalized plan that aligns with your values and strengths. Using tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and other modalities, I support you in building insight, developing coping skills, and taking meaningful steps forward. I provide honest feedback, encouragement, and accountability while always respecting your pace. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, capable, and connected to the life you want to live. Our first session is all about creating a comfortable, supportive space where you can begin to share your story at your own pace. I'll start by getting to know you - what brings you to therapy, what challenges you're facing, and what goals you'd like to work toward. We'll also talk about your past experiences with therapy (if any), your strengths, and what you hope to get out of our work together. I'll ask some questions to better understand your background, but there's no pressure to share more than you're ready for. This session is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you may have. My goal is to make sure you feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning.
