Psychotherapist
VA
Hi there, I'm Candace! I am so glad you are here today, and your story matters. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in women's issues, healing from trauma, and finding hope when you feel lost. We all face challenges that can create doubt about our purpose and how to rebuild after negative experiences. I work closely with each individual to instill hope, provide positive encouragement, and empower you to make healthy decisions in all aspects of your life. Additionally, I offer faith-based counseling with a practical approach if you choose to incorporate this into your therapy journey. My approach I apply CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to work through confusing thoughts and feelings. I also use a solution-focused approach as we form coping skills you can use daily. My focus I work individually with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, healing from trauma, women’s empowerment, and faith-based counseling. My communication style My sessions create a safe space for you to share your story and experiences. Everyone deserves to be heard as we work on issues important to you. Rapport building and trust are key first steps I strive to achieve. My journey to mental healthcare I began counseling as a teenager, listening to peers while navigating my own challenges in a single-parent household. I experienced self-doubt and grappled with my sense of self and purpose. This motivated me to become a counselor formally to assist those in my rural community lacking mental health services. I earned a Bachelor's in Psychology, a Master's in Counseling, and an Ed.D. in Education focusing on Community Care and Counseling. My lived experiences continue to inform and inspire my work.
