Candace Tompkins, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Candace! Hello! My name is Candace Tompkins. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master's in Counseling from the University of West Florida. My approach I like to use Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I believe that you know yourself best and are the expert in your wellness journey. My focus I work with adults facing difficulties in a variety of life issues including depression, anxiety, insomnia, grief, and relationships. My communication style I like to create a warm, welcoming environment with no judgments. I want you to feel comfortable talking with me?because if you cannot feel comfortable talking to your therapist, who can you be comfortable with? And how can you possibly benefit from therapy if you aren't honest with yourself? My journey to mental healthcare I have always loved psychology ever since I was introduced to a course in high school. I loved learning that I was not alone and that what I was experiencing was normal. I have always wanted to help others, and in the process, I realized I was also helping myself. My goals for you I believe goal setting should be led by the client. I provide support and insight and help create realistic goals. My first session with you During the first session, I would like to learn about you and what brings you to counseling. I want to work on identifying problems and setting goals together.
