Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm Cara! I am Cara Dixon, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience in Behavioral Health. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University. My approach I take a holistic approach to healing. I believe in looking at a person's mind, body, spirit, and emotions. This includes time spent with individuals, couples, and families. My focus I have worked with a myriad of clients over the years, including individuals and families. I have helped people with anxiety and depressive disorders as well as those facing more challenging concerns like substance use disorders. My communication style I believe in listening to my clients-what they say, what they don't say, and how they say it. I am honest with my clients after carefully weighing what I hear, using tactful responses that inform while also modeling effective communication skills. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist when I was a child. I was always the one who listened to all my playmates' and classmates' problems. I saw how being heard is important to helping a person heal. I went on to college to study Psychology as an undergraduate and continued on to receive my Master of Social Work. My goals for you When setting goals, I ask the client, ?What do you want to get out of the therapy experience? What do you want your life to look like? How will I know as your therapist that you have met your goals?? My first session with you In our first session, you will hear briefly who I am and how long I've been in the field. I'll ask many questions about what's bringing you to therapy and how this issue is affecting your life. We'll chat about the changes you want to make in your life.
