Cara Hansen, LCSW

Psychotherapist
GA
I am a clinically licensed social worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from Valdosta State University. I'm passionate about teaching my clients how to have a healthy mindset, communicate their needs, and feel less stressed in the process! The majority of my practice focuses on helping clients with depression, extreme stress, and unhealthy relationships. My approach I like to work with my clients using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to get to the root of the unhelpful thinking that's probably happening, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy, as letting go of what you can't change but owning what you can is essential to having the joyful life you want to live. My focus I typically work with women and/or couples who feel stuck, frustrated, overwhelmed, or just want some needed direction or support. My communication style Empowering, calm, and also a mix of accountability. I typically give you things to work on or practice between sessions. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been drawn to the helping profession and started out in the hospital setting, then community, and now private practice. My goals for you Therapy is all about you! What you want to work on, feel different about, and I'm here to help you identify where to start and support you in the process. My first session with you The first session will be an opportunity for me to get to know you and also an opportunity for you to see if you think I'll be a good fit. I'll also give you something to practice or implement from week one.
