“Wish I could select more than two from the above! Carli is a great therapist, with a friendly conversational style. She creates a safe that feels safe and intimate, but is astute enough to avoid getting into a place of over-comfort and complacency, always dedicated to moving you forward in whatever your journey may require.”

Getting to know Carli Sterling

Hello everyone, My name is Carli Sterling (she/her). I am an LMFT in California. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Palo Alto University. I work as a clinical supervisor at a community mental health agency and have a private practice on the side. Trauma-informed care and eating disorders are my wheelhouse. Wheelhouses? Wheel homes. Outside of therapy, I enjoy yoga, wakeboarding, producing music via GarageBand and Soundtrap, and investing in stocks, cryptocurrency, and blue-chip art. During the pandemic, I taught myself how to change fancy watch batteries and install ClosetMaid systems. I have a 2-year-old mini me. I work from home, and she is the worst coworker I've ever had. Always open to consult and help in any way I can.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect to feel seen, heard, and understood. I have a calm, gentle vibe with just enough sprinkles of sarcasm to keep me interesting. Therapy is a sacred space to me and I will always honor our session time as such.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Carli is guiding me through some trauma and relationship issues, sexual addiction, as well as helping me to find my own voice and identity. I have suffered with undiagnosed ADHD and another non diagnostic condition my whole life up until a year and a half ago and Carli is assisting that recovery process as well. I feel extremely safe working with Carli and I feel that I can trust her 100%. Very thankful. I am making progress in mental health.
I enjoy working with Carlia as she comes off as very authentic, humourous, and solution-oriented. Though I could easily add empowering, warm, open-minded, and intelligent to the list. Her sessions are very inviting and I do not feel pressured or uncomfortable at all. She responds to messages quickly, listens to what I feel I need to say, and provides appropriate feedback and solutions. At this time I feel one of my favorite things Carli does is provide various homework assignments that I can use for myself or my family if need be. Each week I look forward to our sessions and in an almost childlike sense want to tell her about my day or week. It is quite a different experience working with her compared to other therapists which is quite refreshing.
